Leeds Championship Show 2013 Critique

I enjoyed being amongst an entry of quality and had some hard decisions in many classes.I thought there were a few light eyes and the texture and size of the ears in some needs to be watched as they appeared heavy and losing shape.

PD(6,1)

1.Shannon’s Erewhon Celestial Fire, quality head with dark eye and good strength of foreface.A little more stop than 2,neater ears.Overall well balanced for his age and moved soundly.Good shoulder placement and well boned.Moved with good width.BPD.

2.Smith Fenton & Doak’s Rosslyn Reiver, impressive male of qualtity.Larger frame and well developed body.Strong topline with broad loin.Liked his head type, would prefer darker eye.Steeper in shoulder than 1 needs to let down into himself put up a strong challenge to 1.

3.Quinn & O’Brien’s Araceta dDreamscape.

JD(2,0)

1.Wallace’s Araceta Dreamflight,VHC in Junior but no disgrace here as he ended a line up of quality puppies.Good shape and size, would like less stop and longer head. Well developed body and good topline.Moved soundly and with more handler experience will do well.

2.Addy’s Fintralgor Fickle Fortune, preferred the type of this male.Good body shape and depth of brisket.Stood over the ground well but on the move was pacing so difficult to assess and moved close behind and erratically in front.

PGD(3,1)

  1. Beardswood Quinlan, upstanding, quality male.Lovely head and ey,good depth of muzzle.Long reach of neck, well let into front.Good fill in of forechest.Well developed, shapely body.Good bone substance.Moved slightly narrow behind, strong positive front movement.

  2. Constantine’s Gentiehun Ayres Rock of Kaleginy, stronger in skull and pronounced stop.Narrower build all through, but stood over the ground well.Would like more flexible foot.Moved with good stride and flexing hocks.Good width to rear but not as strong in front.

LD(4,0)

1.Hawkins Kwaricott Corelli, liked his masculinity and expression.Clean skull and neat ears.Good reach of neck well set into shoulders.Well balanced overall with strong topline and good spring of rib.Crisp jacket.Moving one of the soundest and strongest of the day.In the challenge he pressed hard ,just preferred the overall shape and type of the winner. Res CC.

2.Morton & Morgan’s Cotherstone Shot and Steel, another quality male.Liked his head type and eye.He wasn’t as well angulated as 1 and lacked the overall flowing shape and reach of neck.Well boned and nice working feet.Mature body, good coat.Moved straight but lacked width.

3.Rhodes & Morton’s Gentom Semper Fi.

OD(4,2)

1.Trotman & Dockree’s Regalflight Princequillo of Penherald, mature hound, quality head with balance.Correct reach of neck, good fill in of forechest.Well shaped body with flowing topline from head to tail.Drooping hindquarters with good length of stifle to hock.Moved soundly.CC.

2.Hawkins’ Kwaricott Asclepius, shorter head in proportion and not as strong in depth.Good reach of neck, well let into front. Would prefer better ribbing and underline.Lacked muscletone, moved with good width.

PB(6,0)

1.Shannon’s Erewhon Wanton Flame, headed a class of lovely young ladies.Liked her head type and overall balance.Strong jaws, dark eyes, clean skull.Long, reach of neck.Well developed body for her age, well muscled, soundest of movers.BP.

2.Janson’s Cufaidh Swan Maiden to Nixophel, feminine, different type of head.Liked her overall shape, keeping her topline on the move.At a diificult in between stage but good overall shape and she moved nicely.

3.Taylor’s Kilbourne Pandora to Ormastar.

JB(4,3)

1.Helps & Kermack’s Beardswood Rona, another quality lady of type.Classy head and darkest of eyes.Clean skull, long reach of neck.Well angulated front, clean shoulders with good return of upper arm.Gently flowing topline.Moved beautifully I profile, just a tad narrow in hind movement.

PGB(10,2)

1.Bailey’s Greyflax Just Peachy,to my eye typified type and she has style.Lovely balanced head and expression of class.Well muscled, long reach of neck.Strong front and good depth of brisket.Liked her length of loin and fallaway into broad hindquarters.Still lacking a little maturity in body, but liked her very much. ResCC.

2.Helps’ Beardswood Quintessence,at a similar stage of development to 1 with the framework of a quality hound.Typy, stylish and shapely. Not quite shoulder placement of 1 but when she matures will be lovely.Kept her shape on the move.

LB(9,6)

1.Johnson’s Brackenland Waltz for Kilbourne, overall looked more typy than 2.Lightish eye but better in shoulder placement and overall balance and shape. Good upper arm angulation, would like more length from stifle to hock, moved well in profile.

2.Morton & Morgans’ Cotherstone Duchenne,Not as compact in makeup.Has good head type, with depth of muzzle and eye colour. Not shoulder of 1 but well bodied.Short from stifle to hock, sound mover.

3.Pursglove’s Stranwith Aria at Roguesmoor.

OB(2,1)

1.Taylor’s Kilbourne Baccarat to Ormastar, feminine, well balanced head of quality.Lovely eyeshape.Would like neater ear.Good reach of neck, well muscled.Scopy body with rise over loin.Moved soundly with good extension.CC & BOB.

VB(1,1)

1.Janson’s Ch.Nixophel Crystal Amethyst, completely fills the eye in type and shape.Standing looks a picture and moving one of the soundest here.Today, lacking muscletone due to recent illness.
